Mobile wallet player Mobikwik planned to introduce something different to grab more subscribers to its network by launching new Mobile Lite app with size 1MB. This mobile app designed to work even on 2G networks in support cashless economy across India.
Mobikwik Co-founder Upasana Taku said, ‘They have registered over 20 lakh downloads within the first two days of launch. We are committed to support the Indian Government mission of a clean cashless economy and help masses across the country go cashless.
After denominetisation of OHD (old high denomination) currency notes 500 and 1000/- has resulted in a boost for mobile wallets with players like Mobikwik, Paytm, Freecahrge etc. However, one of the drawbacks of these apps data heavy and need high-data usage supported smartphones.
Mobikwik has tried to solve the issue of heavy data issue launched lite size @ 1MB Lite app.
Mobikwik allows Free money trafer to banks through Mobikwik Lite app users till March, 31st of next year. Users can access to receive payment through UPI and wallets, sending an SMS to their customers.
Lite app is available in Hindi and English languages where users can give a missed call to 80971-80971 from their Android mobile phone and download the app without having email ID or without signup into Google play store.
Mobikwik says, 'Lite app works even on 2G/EDGE connection which is 1MB size user can download by sending missed call to receive a link through SMS for download within seconds with less data usage. After download user can register their mobile number and run to receive payments and send money to banks without any extra charges.
